New Life's Double Donation Drive

New Life Pet Adoption Center, a non-profit, No-Kill animal shelter located in Marathon, is currently doing a "Double Donation Drive".

During the month of March, we will be collecting (human) non-perishable food items that will be delivered to the Circle of Joy during the week of Easter.  Items needed most include: Hamburger Helper, Macaroni & Cheese, Pancake Mix, Syrup, Saltine or other crackers, Canned Soup, Canned Fruit, Dishwashing Soap, Laundry Detergent, Paper Towels, Napkins, and Cereal.

For the second part of the "Double Donation Drive", we are collecting cash donations to sponsor the intake of dog rescues from large-scale breeding operations. We are trying to create a fund so that when these dogs become available for intake, we are able to help by bringing them to New Life Pet Adoption Center to get them ready for adoption.

Food donations can be dropped off at New Life Pet Adoption Center located at
125 Cattail Avenue, Marathon WI. Cash donation can be dropped off or
mailed. Also, the cash donations are tax deductible and receipts will be given. If anyone has questions, they can call New Life at 443-6699.

Global Gear Drive

A drive to collect gently used sports equipment and apparel for children in third world countries. Any sports equipment is acceptable, including cleats, though they are most in need of basketball, baseball, and soccer equipment. Other items such as uniforms and apparel are appreciated and accepted as well. Collection boxes are available at the Wisconsin Rapids and Port Edward's YMCA's which will serve as drop off points in the community.

I Bought a Bone Campaign

Purpose: to raise money to support the Portage County Humane Society.

Idea: customers of The Store convenience stores throughout Portage County will purchase a paper bone for $1.00 each and sign it. All bones will be displayed inside The Store throughout the promotional period

Proceeds: funds raised will go to the Humane Society of Portage County

The King and I

SPASH high School is performing the musical “The King and I” on March 18th-21st. Performances on the 18th,19th and 20th are at 7pm. March 21st is a 2pm show. Tickets are $8.00 . Students and Senior Citizens are $5.00.

5th Annual Doreen Garski Memorial 3-Women Pool Tournament

Pool Tournament and Prize Drawing held to benefit Children's Miracle Network. Food Specials available at Tomek's Tavern and Prize Drawing tickets are $2.00 each or 3 for $5.00.

SPASH Student Senate School Board Candidate Forum

The SPASH Student Senate will be holding their annual School Board Candidate Forum on Wednesday, March 24th, 2010 at 7 o�clock in the SPASH Library. The evening will consist of 30 minutes of questions from a student panel, followed by approximately 30 minutes of house questions, closing with another 30 minutes of student panel questions. Each candidate will have 2 minutes to respond to each question. All community members welcome.

5th Annual Woodson YMCA Fashion Show

See the latest in spring fashions and hairstyles while enjoying an evening out visiting with friends at the 5th Annual Woodson YMCA Fashion Show. Complimentary gifts, hor d'oeuvres, and door prizes included the the $22 fee; which also includes a $10 donation to the YMCA's Community Partners Campaign. Stopping crime & violence in our rural communities

Mosinee Area Community Sales Days

Local residents ,community groups and local businesses throughout the Mosinee Area join in for 3 days of yard estate, gararge and yard sales.

Mosinee July 4th festival, parade & fireworks

A family fun filled evening at River Park. Childrens games and bouncy house. Food and refreshing beverages on grounds. Parade passes by the park. Fireworks at dusk. Free addmission to the Park.

YMCA Lactic Edge Triathlon - Presented by Cellcom

The Lactic Edge Triathlon is held at Bukolt Park in Stevens Point, WI. The race consists of a 500 yd swim, 17 mile bike, and 3.1 mile run. Registration and Check-in will be held on July 9th from 4:00-6:00pm and July 10th from 6:30-8:00am. The race begins at 8:30am. Relay teams, teen triathlon, and kids triathlon are available. Wisconsin State Water Ski Show Championships

Top Wisconsin water ski teams and individuals compete to see who will go on to the National tournament in August.
